 About the Diploma     

This Diploma in Stress Management and Relaxation by distance learning is for:

·         People who would like to take the course for self-development purposes or in order to help their families and people they care for

·         Personnel managers, supervisors, performers, frequent travellers and others who need to deliver or practise a repertoire of  techniques for stress management and recovering energy levels during hectic work schedules

·         People who would like  comprehensive  instructions on relaxation and stress reduction techniques in an easy to follow format, and to learn many new easy stress management skills and techniques

·         Practicing complementary therapists, life coaches, and health workers who would like an additional diploma in stress management to add to their skills and to display alongside their other credentials, or who need evidence of continuing education for their professional memberships (subject to approval of individual organisations)

·         People who have some counselling role (including volunteers, managers, stress management practitioners, coaches, complementary therapists, teachers, etc.)

·         People who would like to take this course to give them confidence in pursuing other educational opportunities such as advanced courses in stress management or diplomas in counselling, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy.

 

The Diploma in Stress Management and Relaxation course content will include the following:
Theory of Stress
Breathing exercises,
Progressive relaxation,
Meditation,
Visualisation,
Applied relaxation,
Self-hypnosis,
Autogenics,
Brief combination techniques,
Anger training,
Refuting irrational ideas,
Focusing,
Worry control,
Coping skills,
Goal setting and time management,
Assertiveness,
Coping with job stress,
Simple nutrition,
Exercise.

Study will be carried out by reading the textbook, doing selected exercises from the textbook and submitting written assignments – these can be sent by e-mail.  Feedback will be given by the tutor (who is qualified in counselling, psychotherapy and stress management) and all material submitted will be treated in strictest confidence.

Entry requirements:   

There is no particular qualification required to take this course, but students should have  good written English.

This course in stress management is NOT a substitute for counselling or psychotherapy, and people with psychological problems should seek appropriate treatment with a counsellor or psychotherapist.  People with medical problems should consult their medical practitioner.
This course is NOT suitable for people with severe psychological or psychiatric problems.

Credit will be given towards Calamus International University distance degree courses. (CIU is a non-UK, private, unaccredited distance learning university)
